Johnny Galecki New AOK Comedy In Development At CBS, To Serve As EP

Have you ever wondered what Stop and catch fire would sound like a multi-camera comedy? If so, you might be in luck.

CBS has developed OK, a ’90s workplace sitcom from executive producers Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory) and John Quaintance (Will & Grace), Deadline reports.

The potential series, which is written by Quaintance, revolves around a “bunch of mostly idealistic young entrepreneurs” in an “outsider internet company in pre-America Online 1991… who work together, hang out together and fall in and out. to love each other, while trying to change their world and holding up a mirror to ours.

Regarding the Stop and catch fire By comparison, the critically acclaimed AMC series ran for four seasons, between 2014 and 2017. Spanning a full decade, starting in 1984 and ending in 1994, the drama followed four idealistic tech entrepreneurs (played by Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Kerry Bishé and Mackenzie Davis) who, uh… worked together, hung out together and fell in love and in love. Its fourth and final season did not focus on a fictitious competitor of AOL, but on a Yahoo! competitor named Comet, which ultimately went bankrupt once Yahoo! has been chosen as the default Netscape Navigator web directory.

OK brings Galecki back into the CBS fold, after his 12 seasons as Dr. Leonard Hofstadter on the aforementioned The Big Bang Theory. He was also executive producer of the short-lived Jay R. Ferguson comedy Living biblically, which aired on CBS in 2018.

Since big Bang, Galecki kept a relatively low profile, appearing in only two episodes of the conners in 2019. In the case of OK, it is only attached as an EP.

Should OK receive a serial order, it would likely join big Bang prequel Young Sheldon as part of Eye Network’s Thursday Night Comedy Block.
