Photos: 14 months after horrific car accident, Tiger Woods says he will play in Masters tournament

The most unlikely sporting comeback is underway.

Tiger Woods, less than 14 months from a catastrophic car accident that threatened his ability to walk, confirmed on Tuesday that he intends to play the Masters this week in pursuit of his sixth green jacket.

“For now I feel like I’m going to play,” he said. “I will play nine more [practice] Holes [Wednesday]. My recovery has been good.

The news follows a practice half-round by Woods on Monday in which he drew a gallery of thousands of them at least five layers deep from tee to green.
