RFG: Tell us about your new single “Everytime It Rains” out Friday, July 1

First of all, thanks to Ace Of Base, the original creators/performers of this song. The first time I heard “Everytime It Rains”, I immediately fell in love with it; it’s been on my personal top 10 list over the years to listen to and enjoy, but I never thought I’d do it again as Reggae. Then one of my producers “Hudz” Solomon Islands suggested I do it again in this genre. He created the beat and I produced my vocals on it. When it was finished, I immediately knew we had something very special. And since I’m a big fan of Ace Of Base, I just wanted to add to the greatness of what they had already created in my own expression. “Everytime It Rains” is about the whirlwind of emotions you feel when you lose someone you love. It’s a song that many people know and I hope my fans, supporters and music lovers in general will adopt this interpretation.

RFG: Do you still live in Jamaica?
Officially, I am now a “Floridian”. Florida has been my home for a while now and I love it here. It’s not too far from anything I’m used to. I like the fact that I can do some gardening in my garden. I can plant most of the same fruit trees like my mango, pineapple, sugarcane, and other vegetables as I used to when I was in Jamaica, and it’s all just a drive away by plane. My children were born here, and yes this is my home.

RFG: We know you have received many awards, could you please tell our readers?
2006 Stone Love Singer of the Year, 2006 EME Male Vocalist of the Year, 2006 Most Improved Entertainer IRAWMA Award, 2008 Reggae Academy Awards – Best Reggae Vocal Performance by Duo/Group/Collaboration for “On My Mind” with Sean Paul, 2008 EME Award for Best “On My Mind” Collaboration with Sean Paul.

RFG: How would you describe your musical style?
My musical style is a bit off the beaten track. I call it blending with an edge, but whatever that blending is, I never forget to make it my expression, it allows me to create without placing limits on what I do. I mainly do reggae, but I listen and do a lot of different genres, that’s why when you hear a Da’Ville song, no matter what you like, you can always find something to talk about in my music .

RFG: In which countries and festivals have you played?
Japan, Kenya, Nigeria, all over the United States, Canada, Solomon Islands, Luxembourg, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Belgium, Jamaica, Saint Martin, Anguilla, French Guiana, Grenada, Guyana, Antigua, Guadeloupe, Bermuda, Dominica, Cayman Island, St. Kitts, the entire island of the Bahamas and Belize to name a few.

RFG: What do you have in the works for the rest of 2022?
So far, 2022 is looking very promising. It’s been a very busy year for me, and bookings have been consistent. I have quite a few confirmed dates that will see me play festivals on different continents. Australia, United States, Canada and some Caribbean islands; others still pending. Other than that, I’m busy releasing new material with the intention of releasing one of my four already completed albums before the end of the year.RFG: How would you describe your musical style? My musical style is a bit off the beaten track. I call it merging with an edge. Fusion between the multiple genres that inspire me: Reggae, Roots, Hip Hop, Country, R&B, Pop, Afrobeat, House, to name a few, but no matter what this fusion is, I don’t never forget to make it my expression. It allows me to create without imposing limits on what I do. I mainly do reggae, but I listen and do a lot of different genres, that’s why when you hear a Da’Ville song, no matter what you like, you can always find something to talk about in my music .
