Shop 1-in-5, a movement to support small businesses towards potential and essential growth, has relaunched its small business online shopping directory with value-based customizations.
The relaunch comes with just 100 days of shopping before Christmas. The relaunch of the online shopping directory was announced by the founders of Shop 1-in-5, alongside Jacqueline Snyder and Minna Khounlo-Sithep, the duo behind The Product Boss, service providers -Advice to product entrepreneurs.
Recognizing the importance of supporting small retail and online stores, Snyder and Khounlo-Sithep co-founded the Promise to purchase 1 of 5. The Pledge is a personal pledge to make one in five small business purchases, whether online or in-store.
Shop the Small Business Directory 1 of 5
With the relaunch of the initiative, Shop 1-in-5 now offers value-based business categories designed to make every purchase a more conscious decision. These categories include, among others, black or minority owned stores, ethnic, U.S. made, veteran owned, with a charitable component.
Designed to make shopping easier than ever this holiday season, the site is easy to navigate, with categories for men, women, home and other specific product types.
Provide support to small businesses run by minorities
Small businesses run by minorities have been among the hardest hit by the pandemic. Research shows that businesses owned by people of color have been hit hardest by the global health crisis.
It is therefore vital that small businesses run by minority groups have the right resources, help and support available to them as we emerge from the pandemic and head into the holiday season.
That’s where Shop 1-to-5’s commitment to supporting small businesses by understanding the impact of consumer mailing on small businesses comes in. The commitment, coupled with the creation of the Small Business Shopping Directory, which was developed to meet the needs of customers who want to support small businesses but don’t know how to find them, could prove invaluable in helping those businesses get through with successful this testing period.
Shopping to change lives
Jacqueline Snyder and Minna Khounlo-Sithep explained the philosophy behind how the site is designed to help small businesses as the holiday season approaches.
“Shopping has the power to change lives by consciously directing money to those who need it most. This site is a one-stop destination to discover, support and buy small business holiday gifts and everyday shopping, thereby supporting some of the businesses hardest hit during the COVID-19 pandemic, ”they said.
Jacqueline Snyder and Minna Khounlo-Sithep founded the Shop 1-to-5 Pledge in fall 2020 to meet consumer demand to support small businesses but who didn’t know how to locate them.
Studies show that between February and April 2020, 22% of small businesses in the United States closed. Through the Pledge and Shopping Destination, The Product Boss aims to give many struggling small businesses the help they need to be able to thrive this holiday season.
